Port of Casablanca Maintains Normal Operations Amid COVID-19 Precautions

The National Ports Agency (ANP) stated on Monday that the Port of Casablanca continues to welcome ships and receive goods. The implementation of an appropriate system, in accordance with preventive measures against the spread of the coronavirus, allows it to ensure the continuity of its activities.
The measures taken were made in full consultation with the various port stakeholders, the ANP specifies in a press release. The agency also reports that the port’s activity shows a normal level of freight transit. "Thanks to the commitment of all the partners of the National Ports Agency who contribute to the reception of ships and the transit of goods, the operation of the Port of Casablanca has not been impacted by COVID-19, as regards essential products such as cereals, sugar, animal feed, edible oil, etc.".
As a result, the volume of goods recorded since the beginning of 2020 until March 21 is 6,575,960 tons, an increase of 3% compared to the same period in 2019. On the health front, the ANP indicates that it has implemented several health measures and devices aimed at "preventing the spread of the virus and protecting all port users. This is in application of the recommendations of the Ministry of Health as well as those of the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water".
