Port of Algeciras Issues Reminder on Food Import Rules for Moroccan Travelers

The Port Authority of Algeciras has reminded Moroccans in Europe engaged in the return phase of Operation Marhaba of the products allowed to enter Spain from Morocco, according to European regulations.
The return phase of Operation Marhaba officially started on July 15 and will end on September 15. Awaiting the peaks of MRE flows in the port of Algeciras, the Port Authority has launched an information campaign to remind MREs of the products allowed to enter Spain from Morocco.
"We remind you that European regulations do not allow the introduction into the Community territory of: meats, dairy or derivative products, vegetables, plants and trees," tweeted the Port Authority of Algeciras, however specifying that other products for personal use are authorized in well-defined quantities. This is the case for vegetables (coconut, banana and dates), oil (maximum three liters) or sugar, couscous... (maximum two kilos).
These measures aim to prevent the entry of sick animals or pests into the EU, assures the government delegation in Ceuta, which has also disseminated the list of products allowed to cross the Tarajal border from Morocco. The port of Tanger Med has already welcomed more than 760,000 MREs in both directions since the start of Operation Marhaba 2022 on June 5.
