Polisario Leader Ghali Left Spain Without Passport, Police Report Reveals

More is known about the circumstances of the Polisario leader’s departure from Spain. Brahim Ghali had been admitted to the San Pedro de Logroño hospital, under a false identity in April, after contracting Covid-19, and had returned to Algeria under unclear circumstances.
The Navarre police prefecture has finally responded to the request of the head of the 7th investigating court in Zaragoza, to provide "information on certain circumstances" concerning Brahim Ghali’s departure from Spain. In a report sent to investigating judge Rafael Lasala, it stated that the Polisario leader had left Pamplona-Noain airport for Algeria without a passport or identity document, reports La Razon.
According to the police’s explanations, the Polisario leader "was allowed to leave the national territory, as it was a voluntary departure," under the immigration regulations. These regulations establish that any person can leave Spain "with defective papers or even without papers" if there is no prohibition or impediment of any kind from the police control services.
Brahim Ghali arrived at the airport in a "medical ambulance" accompanied by his alleged "personal physician," the report specifies. The ambulance entered through the north gate of the airport and parked inside, at the foot of the runway, without the patient and his companion leaving the ambulance at any time.
During the identification of all the people to board the plane, the officials of the Provincial Brigade of Foreigners and Borders of Pamplona were faced with four people: a person with an Algerian passport and a French visa, one with a Spanish passport, one with a "passport issued by Spain with stateless nationality," who also provided the NIE, and another without papers claiming to be Brahim Ghali. His alleged doctor "corroborated" the information, the police report states.
