Polisario Front Escalates Conflict, Demands Spanish Firms Exit Western Sahara

The Polisario Front demands that the 14 Spanish companies operating in the Sahara "immediately" leave the territory, announcing an intensification of military action against Morocco.
The head of the Sahrawi "seventh military region", Taleb Ammi Deh, has summoned the Spanish companies to vacate the premises after the leaders of the separatist movement announced that military activity against Morocco would be stepped up. He assured that the battle will be waged beyond the "wall of shame", both in the air, at sea and on land.
"The lightning attack on the Guerguerat area, carried out last January, was only intended to alert and warn that we have the ability to directly target the target," Ammi said to the media Ecsaharahui, adding that "both civilians and investors must leave the area, because an attack on the Moroccan presence will be carried out immediately".

Some observers do not approve of this reaction from the Polisario, pointing out that the separatist movement was quick to forget the generous welcome of its leader, Brahim Ghali, in Spain to be treated for the coronavirus, which had provoked a serious diplomatic crisis with Rabat.
This threat from the Polisario Front comes in a climate of tension between Morocco and Algeria, which broke off diplomatic relations with the kingdom in August and did not renew the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline.
