Polisario Front Condemns Trump’s Western Sahara Decision, Vows to Continue Fight

The Polisario Front representative in Washington, Mouloud Said, said he regrets the decision of outgoing US President Donald Trump regarding the recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara.
"We regret the decision taken by President Trump, but the reality is that Morocco occupies part of the territory of a member state of the African Union. Such a decision will not change the nature or status of the territory," he said.
"Furthermore, the ’Sahrawi’ people cannot be used as a commodity in international diplomatic transactions. The ’Sahrawi’ people will continue with their determination to fight until the end of the occupation and the respect of the Charter of the African Union," added the ’Sahrawi’ diplomat.
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump signed an act recognizing Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara. "Today I have signed a proclamation recognizing Moroccan sovereignty over the Western Sahara. Morocco’s serious, credible, and realistic autonomy proposal is the only basis for a just and lasting solution for enduring peace and prosperity!" the White House tenant tweeted.
