EU Pledges 450 Million Euros to Morocco’s COVID-19 Response Fund

The European Union contributed 450 million euros to the Special Covid-19 Fund, created on the instructions of King Mohammed VI, this Friday.
This contribution from the European Union was made in two stages. According to a joint press release from the EU and Morocco, the EU will support the kingdom’s budget by immediately reallocating 150 million euros, specifically dedicated to the needs of the Special Fund for the management of the Covid-19 pandemic created on the initiative of King Mohammed VI.
The second support will come through the reorientation of 300 million euros from the funds allocated to Morocco towards the COVID-19 fund in order to accelerate their mobilization to meet the exceptional budgetary needs of the kingdom.
This press release was made public following the telephone conversation between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita and the Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy, Oliver Varhelyi.
The interview, which is part of the multidimensional partnership and the permanent exchanges between the Kingdom of Morocco and the European Union, focused on the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic and the means implemented at the national, regional and international levels to deal with it.
