EU Pledges $110 Million to Boost Morocco’s COVID-19 Response and Health Reforms

Morocco and the European Union (EU) signed, on Tuesday, a financing agreement of 1.1 billion DH, to support the kingdom in its fight against coronavirus.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Economy, Finance and Public Administration Reform, Mohamed Benchaâboun, his colleague from the Ministry of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb and the European Union Ambassador to Morocco, Claudia Wiedey. It aims to support the financing of health activities as well as the ambitious reform plan led by the Ministry of Health in the medium term, in the fight against covid-19, indicates a press release from the EU Delegation to Morocco.
Similarly, the agreement will accompany future post-coronavirus solutions, by helping to make the health sector more resilient to any future health crises, the same source specifies.
The European Union Ambassador to Morocco welcomed the efforts made by the kingdom in this fight. "I am very pleased to see that this fight is starting to bear fruit, thanks to the involvement of everyone. Our partnership in the health sector, which dates back more than twenty years, will be up to the challenges," said Claudia Wiedey.
