Two players from the Spanish championship refused entry into Morocco

This is far from an ideal preparation for the fourth-placed team in the championship. While the kick-off was scheduled for this Sunday evening, two players from the squad, the Serbian Milos Lukovic and the Panamanian Edward Cedeno, found themselves isolated from their teammates due to their nationality.

Lacking a visa to enter Moroccan territory - the planned transit point for the team - they had to opt for an alternative route via Malaga and Algeciras. A plan thwarted by the weather: the maritime conditions in the Strait of Gibraltar prevented their ferry from crossing on Saturday, leaving them stranded in southern Spain.

The rest of the delegation was not spared by Storm Emilia. The initial flight plan, which was to connect Gran Canaria to Tangier before a bus transfer to Ceuta, failed. Blocked at the airport all afternoon on Saturday, the players saw their flight cancelled and rescheduled at the last minute on Sunday morning.

These logistical setbacks come in a tense sporting context. Las Palmas, two points behind second place, are facing a Ceuta team (9th) for the 18th matchday. The two teams eventually parted ways 1-1.
