Pioneering Moroccan Actress Fatima Regragui Dies at 80

Moroccan actress Fatima Regragui, one of the pioneers of Moroccan theater, died on Monday, August 2, 2021, after a long illness. She was 80 years old.
Abderrahmane Regragui confirmed the death of his sister Fatima Regragui, an iconic figure of Moroccan cinema. She will be buried on Monday in Rabat after the Al-Asr prayer.
Born on February 15, 1941, Fatima Regragui began her artistic career in the 1950s. In 1957, she made her debut with the theater troupe "Atajdid Al Masrahi". She played several plays including "Amayel Jha". With the famous Maâmoura troupe, she plays with great names of Moroccan theater: Tayeb Seddiki, Ahmed Tayeb Laâlej, Said Afifi and many others.
In 1975, she joined the troupe of the National Theater Mohammed V in Rabat alongside Aziz Maouhoub, Mohamed El Jam, Malika El Omari and Nezha Regragui. She has appeared in several films such as "Farewell Mother" (Mohamed Ismaïl, 2008) and "Mirage" (Ahmed Bouanani, 2001).
