Passport, money and glasses left behind: Total mystery around the disappearance of the French engineer in Morocco
Two years after the mysterious disappearance of Clément Besneville in Rabat, the opening of a judicial investigation in France is relaunching the investigation. His parents, based in Seine-et-Marne, hope to finally get answers about the fate of this young engineer who vanished in April 2024.
The Melun public prosecutor’s office took a decisive step on April 4th by opening a judicial investigation for kidnapping and sequestration. This procedure follows an investigation by the national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office launched in 2025. For Didier Besneville, the father of the missing person, this initiative guarantees that the case will not be forgotten, even if no terrorist trail is ultimately retained.
On Bladi.net: Two years later, the criminal trail is favored in the case of the Frenchman missing in Morocco
Installed in Rabat since January 2024, Clément Besneville, a 29-year-old engineer, was planning to open a chain of pizzerias there. He has not given any sign of life since April 13, 2024. Troublingly, the investigators found all his personal belongings in his apartment, including his passport, glasses and cash, making the hypothesis of a voluntary departure not very credible.
According to Le Parisien, the Moroccan national security has ruled out any extremist trail. Clément is described as a gentle but impressionable boy, diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2017. The day before his disappearance, he would have caused a minor incident in a mosque after an outburst of laughter during prayer.
The financial aspect reveals that the young engineer had transferred 40,000 euros to a cryptocurrency platform in March 2024 for his business project. This money has never seen any movements since. At the same time, the family is questioning the absence of data from urban surveillance cameras and the unexplained closure of the Facebook accounts dedicated to calls for witnesses.

Accompanied by a missing persons search association, the couple refuses to give up in the face of uncertainty. "What happened to our kid?", his father wonders, marked by two years of sleepless nights.
