Passenger Ferry Route Between Spain and Morocco Sees 10,000 Travelers in First Month

More than 10,000 passengers have traveled between Almería and Nador since the resumption of passenger maritime traffic on April 23, the date on which the first Wasa Express ferry of the shipping company Baleària left the port of Almeria for Nador with 53 passengers and 45 freight transport vehicles.
About a month after the resumption of passenger maritime traffic, 10,079 passengers and 8,410 freight transport vehicles have traveled between Almería and Nador, the Port Authority of Almeria (APA) said, specifying that in 2019, more than 50% of the 950,000 passengers who transited through the port of Almeria had Nador as their destination or origin, for a total of 507,620 people.
In total, more than 17,600 passengers traveled on the ferries connecting Almería and Nador in 2021, or 25% of the total number of travelers who transited through the port of Almería. Most of them were truckers, as maritime freight traffic had not been suspended, despite the border closures in March 2020.
