Paris: investigation after the celebration of the Ultras Winners of Wydad Casablanca

The celebration of the 20th anniversary of the existence of the Ultras Winners 2005, supporters of Wydad Casablanca, in the streets of the 16th arrondissement of Paris on Friday, does not seem to have been authorized by the competent authorities. An investigation has been opened to shed light on this matter.

The atmosphere of madness observed during the night from Friday to Saturday at the level of the Grenelle and Mirabeau bridges, near the Eiffel Tower, where red smoke and fireworks were fired from both banks of the Seine, would have taken place without authorization. At the initiative of this celebration, the supporters of the Wydad Athletic Club of Casablanca who were celebrating their 20th anniversary.

"Hundreds of individuals arrived with smoke bombs, which cracked smoke bombs all along the quay, on both sides. We didn’t really understand what was going on, but we didn’t feel in danger. It was really good-natured, rather festive," says a waiter at the La Plage Parisienne restaurant, located on the banks of the Seine, who filmed the celebration.

A local resident says she also followed everything from her balcony. "Listen, it was extraordinary, very very spectacular. People started shouting, everyone was excited, it was great," she says. "It didn’t last very long, but it’s true that some more sensitive people could be affected," says another resident.

Contacted, the Paris police prefecture did not wish to react. The Paris City Hall, for its part, claims not to have been informed of such a demonstration. A police investigation has been opened to determine the responsibilities, informs the LR mayor of the 16th arrondissement.
