Paris Airport Strike Threatens Morocco-France Flights, Unions Demand Better Conditions

Many flights between Morocco and France are at risk of being canceled on Wednesday due to a strike at Paris airports.
Major disruptions at French airports. Four unions of the Groupe ADP airport operator are going on strike this Wednesday, July 17, 2024. The origin of these strike movements is the "deterioration of working conditions" and the "unilateral" decision of the CEO of the group, Augustin de Romanet, to "pay a bonus only to a part of the staff", according to franceinfo. These unions are demanding in particular a "bonus for all staff", a "massive" recruitment plan of 1,000 positions and the guarantee of being able to take days off during all the Olympic and Paralympic events. The CGT, CFDT, FO and UNSA are demanding compensation that concerns "all staff". These unions believe that "the company has the resources to respond to the legitimate demands of employees and their representatives". They also mention "comfortable dividends for shareholders".
Nearly 300 employees held a general meeting last Friday, during which they "supported the unanimous decision of the unions to interrupt their participation in any form of meeting with management". The general assemblies "gave a mandate to launch a strike movement on July 17 to obtain satisfaction", affirmed the CGT, CFDT, FO and UNSA last Monday. "If we are reduced to calling for a strike, it is because of the stubborn refusal of management and in particular the CEO of ADP, underestimating the ultimatum launched by the united unions and the determination of the staff," said the four unions.
This strike could have a negative impact on the Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle and Orly airports, which welcome some 350,000 passengers per day in the summer period, on flights between Morocco and France, but also on the Olympic Games to be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024 in Paris.
