Ounahi Shines in Marseille Debut: Moroccan Midfielder Scores in 2-0 Win Over Nantes
Newly arrived at Olympique de Marseille, Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi delivered good performances in his first match with his new club against Nantes (2-0). He scored the second goal of the match and promises to do even more.
The 22-year-old talent, recruited for 10 million euros (including bonuses) from Angers this winter, is already proving his ability to adapt to his new club. Azzedine Ounahi had a successful first match with OM. He came on as a substitute in the 74th minute against FC Nantes (2-0) on Wednesday in Ligue 1, and made an impression. He scored the second goal of the match in stoppage time (93rd). "First goal in my first match? Like in Angers! It was the same when I made my first appearance in Angers in Ligue 1, I had scored after 2 minutes. We had a great game. In the first half, we were solid even if the chances were rare. In the second half, we took control with ball possession and we finished with two goals. I’m very happy for my first," appreciated the former Angevin on the Prime Video microphone.
After these performances, the revelation of the 2022 World Cup promises to do even more. "Physically, I’m not at my best. I got injured in the ankle after the World Cup and the transfer period was difficult to manage. I’m not yet at 100%, but you saw in Nantes a player happy to be here and who has slipped into the team with ease," Ounahi said to the media.
