Ajax Amsterdam Unable to Afford World Cup Star Azzedine Ounahi, Says Sneijder

The Moroccan player Azzedine Ounahi wanted to continue his career at Ajax Amsterdam, according to former Dutch international Wesley Sneijder, who revealed this during a podcast.
According to the former international, he even mentioned it to the club’s director, Edwin van der Sar, but the club’s finances did not allow for this transfer.
"I heard that he really wanted to go to Ajax and I was asked to see if I could do something. He really wanted it. As for the cost, I think it was around 15 million euros at the time," Sneijder said.
"I spoke to Edwin van der Sar. This young player really wanted to go to Ajax. He’s a fantastic midfielder and he had a very good World Cup. If he can continue to progress, in two years he’ll be worth 70 million euros," he added.
Unfortunately, the club’s finances did not allow for this transfer. "We had to sell players first, which was not possible. In the end, it proved impossible," Sneijder concluded.
