The operational headquarters of the Orange Middle East and Africa subsidiary has just been inaugurated in Morocco, more precisely in Casablanca. The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Stéphane Richard, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Orange, Alioune Ndiaye, Chief Executive Officer of Orange Middle East and Africa, the members of Orange’s Executive Committee and some personalities from the country.
The newly inaugurated headquarters is located in the Casablanca Finance City Tower, in a building that meets the latest standards, with the international "LEED Gold" certification from the World Green Building Council. The headquarters of Orange Middle East and Africa is state-of-the-art, with videoconference and telepresence rooms, which will allow the team to remain in contact with the other countries in the region. The headquarters also has a "Social Hub" to monitor and track Orange’s digital activity and the sector in real time in the Africa and Middle East region, reports africanews.net.
In his inaugural speech, Stéphane Richard, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Orange, said that the Orange group is one of the few to have made the strategic choice, more than 20 years ago, to develop in Africa and the Middle East. "We have always been convinced of the immense potential of this region. In many ways, it can be considered a model of digital transformation.
For him, one of the keys to the success of new services is to think about them from Africa to adapt to local specificities in order to best meet the needs of customers. "That’s why we wanted to organize the management of our activities in Africa and the Middle East directly from the African continent," adds the CEO.
With an average annual growth of 6%, Orange Middle East and Africa has become the first growth area for the Orange Group. Alioune Ndiaye, appointed as CEO of the subsidiary since May 2018, is keen to provide relevant responses to the needs of African populations. He has also carried out a series of appointments of senior executives from African and Middle Eastern countries.
Orange contributes significantly to the GDP of the countries where it operates. We note 8% in Cameroon, 8.2% in Guinea, 11% in Côte d’Ivoire and 11.2% in Senegal. The group invests 1 billion euros per year in Africa and the Middle East in order to continue to improve connectivity and the performance of its networks. Orange is present in 18 countries in Africa and the Middle East and has 125 million customers as of October 30, 2019.
With 5.2 billion euros in revenue in 2018, this area is a strategic priority for the Group.
