Oracle to Create 1,000 Tech Jobs in Morocco with New R&D Center

The American giant Oracle has announced a significant strengthening of its commitment in Morocco, with the creation of 1,000 highly qualified jobs in the technology field. This strategic expansion is part of Oracle’s desire to consolidate its presence in Morocco.

The agreement formalizing this project was signed on May 9 in San Francisco between Ghita Mezzour, Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, and Safra Catz, CEO of Oracle. This partnership aims to strengthen the ties between the two parties and promote innovation in Morocco.

Oracle’s new R&D center, which will be located in Casablanca, will allow young Moroccan talents to work on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing and cybersecurity.

The expansion of Oracle will have, it is said, a positive impact on the Moroccan economy, by creating qualified jobs and stimulating the growth of the technology sector. About 40% of the new jobs will be distributed outside Casablanca and Rabat. Offices in Agadir and the north of the country are already planned.

"In this state-of-the-art center, young Moroccans will be at the forefront of the design and development of innovative solutions, covering the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing and cybersecurity," said Ghita Mezzour.

For Oracle, Morocco represents a strategic choice for its expansion in Africa. The country has an exceptional pool of talent and a favorable environment for innovation, according to Safra Catz. "By expanding our R&D presence in Morocco, we can further leverage its talent pool to accelerate the development of solutions that help our global customers grow their businesses and succeed in their industries," she said.
