US Opens Market to Moroccan Raspberries Following USDA Approval

Good news for Moroccan raspberries! The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has just authorized their import.
Raspberries from the Kingdom of Morocco will be able to land in the country of Uncle Sam. According to L’Économiste, which reports the information, it is the advantageous decision that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has just made on July 24, 2019.
"Based on the results of a phytosanitary risk analysis that we have made available to the public for review and comment, we have determined that the application of one or more designated phytosanitary measures will be sufficient to mitigate the risks of introduction or spread of harmful pests or weeds through the importation of raspberries from Morocco," the USDA said.
According to this institution, Morocco plans to export between 200 and 500 tons of raspberries per year. A relatively small quantity, "representing 0.4 to 0.9% of US raspberry imports," the same source notes.
