ONEE Refutes Claims of New Electricity Meters and Tariff Changes in Morocco

The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) has provided a formal denial of the content of an audio recording, which reported the installation of new electricity meters in the "Lbabda" district in the province of Moulay Yacoub, as well as the application of a new tariff based on three time slots during the day.
This information is "devoid of any foundation", reacted the ONEE, in a press release. The office assures that the electricity tariff remains the same since the publication of the ministerial decree on July 21, 2014. In other words, there has been no new tariff, let alone an imposed billing.
The same source specifies that the two-rate tariff is optional and is therefore only applied to eligible customers who wish to do so, meeting specific criteria to allow them to benefit from a reduced rate outside peak hours. All meters installed by ONEE meet the technical specifications and current regulations, concludes the press release.
