Olympic Team: Tarik Sektioui must transform the bronze of Paris into gold in Los Angeles
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation is reorganizing its youth selections. Frenchman Ludovic Batelli takes over the under-20s, while Tarik Sektioui is appointed coach of the Olympic team.
The 62-year-old technician succeeds Mohamed Ouahbi, promoted to the head of the A national team to replace Walid Regragui. Drawing on his experiences in Côte d’Ivoire, Algeria and Club Africain, he will have to perpetuate the momentum that led to the recent world title in the category in Chile.
The appointment of Tarik Sektioui with the under-23s is part of a logic of early preparation for the next deadlines. This team, a true reservoir of the A selection, will try to capitalize on its historic bronze medal from the Paris Games to approach the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
The system is completed by the appointments of Portuguese Tiago Pereira (U17), former international Nabil Baha (U16) and Achraf Hanzaz (U15). This strategic overhaul of the training system will now have to prove its ability to forge a high-performing succession for future continental and global deadlines.
