Olympic Runner Suspended for Blood Doping After Tokyo Games Test

Bad news for runner Sadik Mikhou, eliminated in the 1500m heats at the Tokyo Olympics. The Bahraini of Moroccan origin has been provisionally suspended for a case of blood transfusion following a test carried out on August 2.
The International Testing Agency (ITA), which published the information on Sunday, said that a sample taken during an out-of-competition control on August 2 had revealed the deception. The athlete carried out an approved blood transfusion (with the blood of a compatible donor).
Known to the anti-doping authorities, Sadik Mikhou had already received a two-year and three-month suspension. Formerly a runner for the Moroccan team, he has represented Bahrain since 2016, and is the 3rd athlete to test positive during the Tokyo Games. Before him, there were Kenyan sprinter Mark Odhiambo and Georgian shot putter Benik Abramyan.
