Olympic Champion Moutawakel Slams Morocco’s Paris 2024 Performance Claims

Hassan Fekkak, technical director of the National Olympic Committee, has incurred the wrath of some athletes and Moroccans after claiming that "Morocco’s participation in Paris was better than in the editions of Tokyo, London and Rio de Janeiro."
On social networks, former Olympic champion Nawal Moutawakel reacted to Fekkak’s remarks. "Thank God, we were among the top five in the world twenty years ago," she wrote, expressing her frustration at the performance of Moroccan athletes at the Paris Olympics compared to previous editions.
Fekkak said he was satisfied with the two medals won, including gold by Soufiane El Bakkali and bronze by the Moroccan Olympic football team, rather than dwelling on the poor performance of Moroccan athletes in other sports such as taekwondo, tennis, and boxing. A statement that has sparked the anger and indignation of Moroccans.
Many Internet users have questioned the lack of preparation of the athletes for the Paris Olympics, calling for reform in this area. Fekkak, for his part, also acknowledged the need to "improve performance and look for areas for development."
