Olympic Champion El Bakkali Sets Sights on World Championships and Paris 2024

Soufiane El Bakkali, the only Moroccan medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, says his career is not going to stop there. He is already eyeing other titles.
"My career and my performances are not going to stop there. I aspire to win other titles, especially at the next World Championships and the 2024 Paris Olympics," the Moroccan Olympic champion told the press, assuring that the gold medal in the 3,000m steeplechase won at the Tokyo Olympics is a starting point for better performances.
Soufiane El Bakkali arrived on Sunday at Rabat-Salé airport. The Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation (FRMA) organized a ceremony in his honor. On this occasion, the athlete dedicated his medal to King Mohammed VI: "I dedicate this medal to King Mohammed VI and to all those who encouraged me, especially my coach and my family and to the entire Moroccan people."
Soufiane El Bakkali won the gold medal in the 3,000m steeplechase final, beating Ethiopian Lamecha Girma and Kenyan Benjamin Kigen. He is the only Moroccan medalist at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
