Olive oil in Morocco: fraud alert!

Fraudulent practices are multiplying in some Moroccan oil mills, raising the concern of consumers and authorities. Deputy Jamal Diouani is sounding the alarm and questioning the Minister of Agriculture.
According to testimonies, some producers would not hesitate to mix olive oil with other oils, or even add chemicals to mask the deception. Even more seriously, fresh olives would be mixed with poor quality old oil to reduce production costs.
In addition to these frauds, the deputy also denounces the existence of clandestine mills that use illegal methods to give the oil an artificial green color. The lack of sufficient controls encourages these practices, which endanger the health of Moroccans.
Faced with this alarming situation, Jamal Diouani calls for firm and rapid action. He demands the implementation of strict measures to control the quality of olive oil and prevent fraud. He proposes, in particular, the creation of regional committees to inspect the mills, especially those operating illegally.
Finally, the parliamentarian insists on the need to strengthen the monitoring of waste produced by the mills in order to prevent any pollution of groundwater. He calls for stricter regulations to ensure environmental protection.
