Olive Oil Fraud Ring Busted in Morocco as Prices Soar

The increase in olive oil prices observed in recent months in Morocco is pushing some unscrupulous people to cheat to sell their stock. But justice is watching!
Thus, the court of first instance of Fqih Ben Salah has just sentenced the main accused of an olive oil fraud network to one year in prison.
This judgment follows the discovery of a vast network for the distribution of counterfeit olive oil. In addition, two accomplices were each sentenced to 10 months in prison as part of the same case.
The elements of the Royal Gendarmerie of Fqih Ben Salah had managed to seize a large quantity of adulterated olive oil mixed with cooking oil. The investigation that followed led to the arrest of three people.
In total, 10 tons of olive oil mixed with cooking oil had been seized by the gendarmes in an oil mill that did not have any health authorization.
In addition to this prison sentence for the three defendants, they will also have to pay a fine of 20,000 dirhams each.
