Morocco’s Olive Oil Prices Surge 80% Amid Severe Drought Crisis

From 50 dirhams in 2021 and 2022, the price of a liter of olive oil has reached 90 dirhams in the Marrakech Safi region, an increase of nearly 40%. The measure to restrict exports of certain varieties, taken by the government, has had no effect on prices.
The rise in the price of olive oil, a product highly prized by Moroccans, is due to the severe drought that has hit Morocco over the past two years. "The drought is total.
