OCP Group’s Profits Soar 73% Amid Global Fertilizer Market Disruptions
The year 2022 was prosperous for the OCP Group with performance well beyond that recorded in 2021, with a turnover of 114.6 billion dirhams.
These figures were achieved in a context marked by disruptions in the supply market. But faced with all these difficulties, "the OCP Group has shown great resilience and continued to serve a geographically diversified clientele and high-demand markets such as South America, Africa and Asia," the OCP said in a statement.
In detail, the OCP Group achieved a record profit with a 73% increase. At the end of December 2022, the group’s turnover recorded an increase of 36%, for an amount of more than 114 billion DH. Over the same period, the group achieved an EBITDA (gross operating surplus) of 50.1 billion dirhams, compared to 36.3 billion at the end of December 2021, an increase of 38%.
The year 2022 was also marked by the launch of the second phase of the investment program based on the increase in mining and fertilizer production capacities. The OCP hopes to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040. Several other initiatives have been launched to help African farmers. Thus more than 550,000 tons of fertilizers have been distributed to more than 4 million African farmers, with a commitment to offer more this year.
