Israeli Airline El Al Sees Surge in Revenue Following Morocco-Israel Normalization

After the Covid-19 pandemic, the normalization of relations between Israel and Morocco is benefiting the Israeli airline El Al, which has boosted its turnover in 2022.
The Israeli airline El Al "is already reaping the benefits of the Abraham Accords, these peace treaties, concluded in 2020, between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, which also allowed the normalization of relations with Morocco and Sudan," notes the newspaper Le Monde. "These agreements have provided new opportunities," acknowledges Oranit Beit Halahmy Amir, general manager of the Israeli company for Central and Western Europe as well as Africa.
In 2022, "El Al generated revenue of over $2 billion [nearly €2 billion], better than in 2019," the last year before the Covid-19 crisis, she explains, specifying that the company made a profit of nearly €100 million. With its five-year strategy, the company expects to reach a turnover of $3.5 billion in 2028 and to go from 4.2 million passengers transported in 2022 and 5.8 million in 2019 to transport 7.5 million passengers.
