Occitanie Firms Expand into Moroccan Market, Eyeing African Growth
Thanks to the support of the Maison de l’Occitanie in Casablanca, many companies in the region have set up in Morocco to position themselves on the global market and more particularly in Africa. Some are already successful.
Fruitful partnerships are raining down between Occitanie and Morocco. In total, 1,140 collective support actions carried out in 10 years, including 54 company accommodations. This is the result of the colossal work carried out by the Maison de l’Occitanie in Casablanca, created in 2012 and led by the regional economic development agency AD’OCC.
One of these companies is the French company Ratier-Figeac, now a subsidiary of the American Collins Aerospace, present in Morocco since 2012. Its activity consists of assembling several parts (control sticks, mini-sticks, hydraulic cylinders, etc.) intended for Airbus, Dassault or Bombardier. It is betting on its Casablanca plant located within the Mohammed V airport aeropole to increase the volume of its activity. Other companies operating in the aeronautics sector have also set up in Morocco. These are Airbus Atlantic, Safran, Figeac Aéro, Satys, Stelia and Daher.
In 10 years, the support of the Maison de l’Occitanie in Casablanca has borne fruit. Regional companies have been successful in recent years. Among them, Phytocontrol, a group of laboratories specializing in the food and water safety, founded in 2006 in Nîmes (Gard). "The company notably benefited in 2019 from accommodation at the Maison de l’Occitanie to facilitate its establishment in Morocco," says Actu.fr. "With this regional support, Phytocontrol was able to win a strategic public contract with the National Office of Food Safety in October 2020, and will move into its own premises by the end of March 2023," the Region is pleased to say.
Sabatier Géolocalisation, the Moroccan subsidiary of Simpliciti, also benefited from accommodation within the Maison de l’Occitanie. "In 2014, Sabatier’s solutions were chosen to equip the collection vehicles of the entire city of Casablanca, explains the Region. The company now works with prestigious cities like Tangier, Marrakech, and Rabat in progress for a Moroccan operator."
