Nike Distributor Plans New Logistics Hub in Tangier

A new location has appeared on Nike’s African map: Tangier. The news emerged during an anniversary celebration, as Malta-based Hudson Holdings, which distributes the brand in numerous countries across the continent, announced plans to establish a logistics facility in early 2027.

The announcement appears in a statement published on October 22 celebrating 40 years of collaboration between Hudson and Nike. Amid the tributes, the company outlined a concrete decision: to bring its storage capacity closer to African markets.

In Malta, Hudson operates a bonded warehouse where products arrive from Asia and Europe. They are sorted, prepared and labeled according to orders, then shipped to more than 30 African countries. This setup dates back to the late 2000s, when Nike transferred its African operations to Hudson from Dubai, where they had previously been managed.

After Malta and Kenya, Tangier is next

Hudson also has warehousing facilities in Kenya. With the Tangier project, the group plans to strengthen its coverage of West, Central and East Africa. Tangier will thus become part of a supply chain linking international suppliers, storage facilities and African retailers.

The two companies’ story began in 1986, when 22-year-old Alfie Borg introduced Nike to Malta. In the 2000s, he supported the brand’s expansion into Nigeria, then Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. The partnership recently marked its 40th anniversary at a Nike meeting in Barcelona.

Hudson already operates in the kingdom: in particular, it helped bring Mango back to Morocco in 2022. More recently, its Nike business has expanded in retail distribution. On September 24, a new Nike store opened at Rabat’s Arribat Center, offering Nike By You customization for the first time in Morocco, according to Hudson.
