Nicole Kidman to Produce HBO Series Based on Bestselling Thriller "The Perfect Nanny"

A thriller based on the novel by Franco-Moroccan writer Leïla Slimani, entitled The Perfect Nanny (Chanson douce, original title) is expected to be produced by Australian-American actress and director Nicole Kidman. HBO will develop The Perfect Nanny as a limited series.
American actress and screenwriter Maya Erskine, who played the lead role in the Hulu original comedy series PEN15 alongside Anna Konkle, will play the lead role. She will be responsible for writing and executive producing. The project was acquired by the American pay-TV channel HBO with Legendary Entertainment. She will develop The Perfect Nanny as a limited series. The synopsis? "An apparently perfect nanny goes to work for a couple with two young children, but her helpful personality ends up deteriorating into something sinister."
In 2016, Chanson douce won the prestigious French Prix Goncourt. The novel became a bestseller after its translation. The 2018 American edition was on the New York Times Book Review’s list of the 10 best books of the year. In the UK, Leïla Slimani was awarded the Debut of the Year prize at the 2019 British Book Awards for The Perfect Nanny, titled Lullaby.
