Goncourt Winner Leïla Slimani Launches Morocco Book Tour for New Novel

Leïla Slimani, is embarking on a tour of five Moroccan cities from March 19 to 29 to present her new novel "The Country of Others". The Franco-Moroccan, Prix Goncourt 2016, will meet the very large public in the kingdom.
The novelist will go to Casablanca on March 20, to Tangier on March 21, to Meknes on March 23, to Rabat on March 25. As for the ochre city, she will go there on March 26 and 29, announces a press release from the French Institute-Morocco, which is organizing this tour, jointly with the Marrakech Book Festival.
The novel "The Country of Others", which is the first part of a family trilogy, is inspired by the story of the writer’s grandmother. The plot takes place in Meknes and looks back on Morocco’s accession to independence in 1956. Through the destiny of many characters, Leila Slimani "depicts with finesse and without Manichaeism, the reality of colonization as well as that of the feminine condition of the time".
A prolific writer, Leila Slimani revealed herself to the general public with her second novel, "Lullaby", which won the Goncourt Prize in 2016, as well as the Grand Prix des lectrices in 2017. It was adapted for the cinema in 2019, with the actresses Karin Viard and Leïla Bekhti.
