Nice Mayor Intervenes After Maghrebi Wedding Canceled Over Traffic Violations

Monday 7 October 2019, by Sylvanus

Initially scheduled for last Saturday, the wedding of a Franco-Tunisian couple was canceled due to a public order disturbance. However, Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, invited the couple to celebrate it on Monday, October 7.

Three wrong-way crossings of a wedding convertible temporarily immobilized in the descent of Crotti, this alley that leads to the town hall and serves the Old Nice.

The reasons for stopping the procession are several: "abusive use of the horn", "change of direction of a vehicle carried out without warning", "non-wearing of the seat belt by a passenger of a motor vehicle received with this equipment".

Excerpts from the images of the video surveillance camera network presented on Saturday, September 5 show these excesses, reports Nice-matin.

Faced with this situation, Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, decided to cancel the wedding. "I received the future spouses. I told them how sad I was to have to pronounce this cancellation," he said. Nevertheless, he managed to get them a new slot for Monday, October 7.

"I showed them the charter they had signed in January 2019, when they made their marriage request, where they committed to there being no disturbance to public order," recalled Christian Estrosi.
