Nice Mosque Burglarized; Leaders Criticize Lack of Political Response

The En-Nour mosque was burgled during the night from Sunday to Monday. While the rector is not too surprised by the act, it is the silence of the political leaders that leaves him speechless.
An individual tried and succeeded in forcing the door of the En-Nour mosque in Nice, before breaking in, smashing screens and stealing equipment. "We discovered the damage at 4:30 am at the time of the dawn prayer," the mosque leaders said, having immediately filed a complaint. But the rector left the police station rather disappointed, as he did not receive any political support, either publicly or privately, reports Lemuslimpost.
But a little later, an individual was arrested. "This is a person who had already come on Thursday evening to leave a porcelain teddy bear statuette. I reported it to the prefecture," the rector said, stating that the man had come back on Sunday evening. "He broke the emergency door and vandalized the mosque, smashed all the screens, the computer network, he took prayer robes and touch screens," he added.
And the rector expressed his indignation at the indifference of the town hall of Nice to this act: "our places of worship require a lot of security! This must stop," he hammered. However, the silence of the town hall seems logical, since for a few years now, the place of worship has been in the sights of Mayor Christian Estrosi, who has always considered the occupation of this place of worship financed by Saudi Arabia to be illegal. Thus, for years, the mayor of Nice had filed appeals in an attempt to have the installation of the mosque in this place annulled in order to erect a nursery there. But the prefecture had finally rejected the request for expropriation of the En-Nour mosque.
