Nexans Expands Fiber Optic Production with New Morocco Factory

The Nexans Group has just inaugurated a new factory in Nouaceur for its Telecom Systems Business Unit. This new unit will produce fiber optic cable connectivity accessories for FTTH, 5G, Data Center and LAN applications.
Located in the Nouaceur industrial acceleration zone, known as Midparc, the new factory covers an area of 6,000 m², including 3,000 m² of production workshop, and will employ nearly 300 people by 2022. Its commissioning will allow the Group to increase its production capacity, by expanding its product range, and by making new supply chain optimization, component pre-cabling and cable connectivity services available to its customers. It will also serve the European and North African markets.
The Minister of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, who presided over the inauguration ceremony, indicated that "this new investment in Morocco by the industrial leader Nexans, in line with the European strategy of rationalizing the supply chain, testifies to Morocco’s competitiveness and the resilience of the national industrial sector in this crisis context".
As for Julien Hueber, Executive Vice President of Nexans’ Industry Solutions & Projects Business Group, he stressed that this new production plant "allows us to continue our development strategy in this high-growth region and to have a local presence in the North-West African market".
Present in 34 countries and marketing its products worldwide, Nexans employs around 26,000 people and achieved a turnover of 6.7 billion euros in 2019.
