Netanyahu Hails Morocco's King as 'Reformer and Friend' on Throne Anniversary

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paid tribute to King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of his accession to the throne. He also hailed the dynamic of cooperation with Morocco.

"King Mohammed VI is a true reformer and friend of Israel," Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video posted on the Goud website. This praise is justified by the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between Morocco and Israel. "The common interests of our countries have taken a big step forward since the signing of the historic Abraham Accords less than three years ago. [...] Since the signing of these agreements, our cooperation efforts have materialized in the fields of defense, trade and other sectors," assured the Israeli Prime Minister. To support his words, he mentions the signing by the national archives of the two countries of a protocol of agreement for a mutually beneficial "use of our cultural and heritage collections, which are vast".

Another major fact: King Mohammed VI’s initiative to enshrine the rights of the Jewish community in the new 2011 Constitution. "It is therefore not surprising that Morocco is a popular destination for Israelis, with tens of thousands of people visiting there each year," Benjamin Netanyahu observed, also expressing his delight at having announced Israel’s recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara. Following this decision, the sovereign invited him to make his first visit to Morocco. "My next visit to Morocco will elevate our relations to higher levels," he is convinced.
