Nearly 1 Million Moroccan Workers Unemployed as COVID-19 Impacts Economy

In total, 950,000 employees are unemployed due to the coronavirus. Following its meeting on Friday, the Economic Monitoring Committee (CVE) provided more information on the support provided to these employees for the month of April.
In a statement, the CVE informs that the transfers of allowances to employees registered as unemployed will be made during the next week. Nearly 134,000 companies, for a total of 950,000 employees, have been declared for April 2020, the Economic Monitoring Committee (CVE) specifies.
The CVE also indicates that the payment of financial assistance to households operating in the informal sector is continuing at a sustained pace, even in the most remote areas. The same source specifies that 85% of the entire eligible population have been served to date, or about 3.7 million households thus impacted.
