Navantia Begins Construction of Advanced Patrol Vessels for Spanish and Moroccan Navies

The Navantia shipyards, located in Puerto Real and San Fernando, launched on Monday the construction of a specialized vessel for the Spanish Navy, the "Poseidon", as well as an offshore patrol vessel destined for the Royal Moroccan Navy.
The initial construction phase of these two vessels has started with the cutting of the first plate of a pilot block. This process will allow testing the new digital design, control and management tools deployed in these shipyards, reports Europa Press.
The "Poseidon", a Maritime Action Submarine Intervention Vessel (NAMIS), is characterized by its strategic role in rescue and support operations for diving operations, to replace the rescue vessel "Neptune" in 2026. The NAMIS will be essential to ensure the support and safety of the crews of the S-80 submarines throughout their operational life.
On the other hand, the offshore patrol vessel for the Royal Moroccan Navy is also under construction in San Fernando. This vessel, in addition to its long periods of deployment at sea, offers optimal reliability with a reduced crew, while minimizing operating and life cycle costs. The construction of this patrol vessel includes a technical-logistical support package, including technical training for the personnel of the Royal Moroccan Navy in Spain.
