NATO Allies Morocco and Spain Conduct Joint Naval Exercise in Strategic Strait of Gibraltar

The ship of the Royal Moroccan Navy "Raïs Al Mounastiri" and the Spanish Navy ship "Meteor" carried out a joint naval patrol exercise in the Strait of Gibraltar on Wednesday, February 17.
As part of a surveillance mission it carried out between February 15 and 17 on behalf of the NATO Operation Sea Guardian against terrorism in the Mediterranean, the Spanish Navy ship "Meteor" made a stopover at the port of Tangier. On this occasion, the ship’s commander, Lieutenant-Commander Álvaro Muñoz-Delgado Ramírez, received on board the head of the Royal Navy, in charge of the command of the operations of the fifth naval base.
The two officials exchanged views on strengthening cooperation to effectively combat illegal immigration and maritime crime in the Mediterranean basin, and the role the Royal Moroccan Navy could play in this process with the NATO fleet.
The visit ended with a joint patrol exercise between the Spanish ship and "Raïs Al Mounastiri" (P-322)", one of the latest acquisitions of the Royal Moroccan Navy.
