Nationwide Card Payment Outage Hits Morocco, Disrupts Retail Transactions

On Wednesday evening, payments by Moroccan bank cards on the internet experienced significant disruptions. This failure would be due to a computer failure of the National Switch.
According to the MAP, between 4 and 5 pm, payment terminals (POS) in most stores in the country were not operational. The bug caused the cessation of transaction operations.
A statement from the Interbank Monetary Center (CMI) later explained that it was a technical problem at the HPS Switch level, which allows the routing of all monetary operations of Moroccan bank cards.
The HPS Switch teams managed to resolve the problem before the peak hours in large retail stores, the same source points out.
