Nations Cup Kicks Off in France: Morocco Defends Title as 16 Teams Compete

The CAN 60, the Nations Cup, was launched on Saturday, June 17 at the Creil velodrome stadium. Sixteen football teams, including defending champions Morocco, are participating in this tournament that will be played over 15 days.

The velodrome stadium was packed with supporters from all over the world to experience this great football event and support their teams. For this Nations Cup, the matches will be played in Creil, Nogent and Montataire. The final is expected on July 1 in Creil, reports Oise Hebdo.

The sixteen teams will compete to try to win this precious cup. But all eyes are on the Moroccan team, the defending champions. The opening match pitted Senegal against Algeria. At the same time, Côte d’Ivoire faced Mauritania. The kickoff was given by the authorities of Créteil.

The tournament continues this Sunday in Nogent-sur-Oise. The quarter-finals are scheduled for Saturday, June 24 in Creil and Sunday, June 25 in Montataire. The semi-final will take place on Friday, June 30 in Creil and the final on Saturday, July 1 in the same city.

Morocco shares Group A with France, Cameroon and Portugal. Group B is composed of Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritania, Cape Verde, and Dom-Tom. Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia and Turkey make up Group C, while Group D consists of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Congo Brazza, Mali and Guinea.
