National Museum of African Art Highlights Moroccan Art in Washington Exhibition

"Moroccan art and artists remain at the heart of our collection and interpretation projects," said Mr. Dumouchelle to the MAP, during the passage in Washington of the exhibition "Golden Caravans, Fragments in Time", organized with the participation of Morocco.
Regarding the cultural policy of the Kingdom aiming to promote museums in the country and the entire region, the official indicated that it is a "valuable and important approach", and that he is pleased "to see the Kingdom valorize the strategic role of culture, both nationally and globally".
Regarding future partnerships with Morocco, he stated that he had "the great pleasure of making several trips to the Kingdom in recent years to meet and work with a number of artists in Morocco, with the aim of developing a future exhibition project".
The exhibition "Golden Caravans, Fragments in Time", initiated by the National Museum of African Art in partnership with the Block Museum of Northwestern University, exhibits more than 300 works of art spanning five centuries and a wide geographical area. The exhibition shows, among other things, the unprecedented contributions of the Ministry of Culture, the National Foundation of Museums, the Bank Al-Maghrib Museum and the University of El Jadida, and also allows the American public to appreciate mainly the singular role of the Kingdom in this pan-African, global and cosmopolitan history centered on this region.
Mr. Dumouchelle is the curator of the institution, which is part of the largest complex of museums and research centers in the world "Smithsonian", founded in the American federal capital.
