Nancy Ajram Snubs Moroccan Flag at Mawazine Festival, Sparking Outrage

Nancy Ajram completely ignored Feryal Ziyari, who went up on stage during her performance to present her with a Moroccan flag and a bouquet of flowers. The Lebanese artist continued singing as if nothing had happened, leaving the presenter on the stage for two to three minutes. She finally withdrew, before returning to hand over the bouquet alone, without the flag.

Nancy Ajram also showed indifference to the symbolic gesture of the organizers, who offered her an Atlas Lions jersey and a football, in reference to the 2030 World Cup that Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.

The Lebanese artist is no stranger to such incidents. At the previous edition of the Mawazine Festival, she had refused to taste the milk and dates offered to welcome her, claiming to suffer from an allergy. This situation, revealing a lack of respect for the symbols of the kingdom, is attributable both to Nancy Ajram and to the festival organizers who trivialize the meaning and value of the Moroccan national flag and football team jersey.

On social media, Mawazine is facing a wave of criticism. Moroccan internet users, including cultural journalists and former event partners, have expressed their disappointment with the poor organization of this twentieth edition, believing that the festival has lost its luster, despite the international stars invited to perform at the cost of millions of dirhams.
