After the full resumption of maritime links between Spain and Morocco, the port of Nador is gearing up for the success of the Marhaba 2022 operation. Many port infrastructures have been built, and the reception capacity has tripled.

Last week, about 4,000 travelers and 922 vehicles boarded the first boats authorized to transport passengers with vehicles from the ports of Algeciras and Tarifa to Tanger Med, and 53 passengers and 45 trucks and freight vehicles joined the port of Nador-Bni Nssar on the Wasa Express ferry from Almeria, thus marking the early launch of the Marhaba 2022 operation.

"To ensure the smooth running of port activity, the Mediterranean Regional Directorate and the Nador Port Directorate (DRM) of the National Ports Agency (ANP) as well as all the authorities concerned at the ports of Nador and Al-Hoceima, have taken all the necessary measures and mobilized to ensure the resumption of passenger activity between Morocco and Spain under the best conditions," says Mostafa Benali, Regional Director of the Mediterranean and Director of the Port of Nador, to L’Économiste.

Considerable efforts have been made to improve the quality of services offered to passengers at the maritime stations of Nador and Al-Hoceima. Not to mention the other projects scheduled for 2024. In order to contribute to the success of the Marhaba 2022 operation, the management of the port of Nador has carried out major works. These include the redevelopment of the maritime station, the positioning of passenger activity in the Western Mediterranean and the improvement of the quality of service provided to passengers with the provision of a better reception area, etc.

"These development works have provided the various port stakeholders with appropriate premises to carry out their functions under better conditions and to reorganize the allocations of their activities," adds Mostafa Benali. Positive aspects: promotion of the significant land reserve of the maritime station whose reception capacity has tripled in terms of passengers, vehicles and TIR trucks. Other major works: the creation of a container line at the commercial port.
