Nador Drug Crackdown: Gendarmerie Dismantles Trafficking Networks

The regional command has dealt a major blow to cross-border crime. In Selouane, a coordinated operation led to the arrest of a notorious cocaine trafficker described as a “big fish.” During the search, the units seized 280 grams of cocaine, significant quantities of cannabis resin, psychotropic tablets, as well as an all-terrain vehicle and communications equipment.

Dismantling Networks and Solving a Murder

The investigation into the shooting death of a young man near Al Aroui also made major progress with the arrest of 18 individuals suspected of involvement in the crime. The suspects were brought before the public prosecutor at the Nador Court of Appeal in successive groups. One of the key figures in the case was captured in Saïdia during a joint operation with National Security and the DGST.

At the same time, the Ben Taieb units neutralized another criminal cell made up of three individuals specializing in hard-drug trafficking. These actions form part of an overall strategy aimed at “eradicating the sources of drug trafficking” and restoring a lasting climate of security in the province, particularly in rural and peri-urban areas.

In addition to the high-profile arrests, two accomplices working as motorized informants for the traffickers were also neutralized.
