Mysterious Mass Die-Off of Migratory Birds Alarms Moroccan Coastal City

Migratory birds have washed up in large numbers over the past two days on the beaches and rocks of the coastal city of Safi.
Dozens of migratory birds were found dead on Lalla Fatna beach, located 12 kilometers north of Safi.
Similarly, other municipalities on the coast are experiencing the same situation of piles of dead fish, reports the newspaper Al Akhbar.
According to the same source, these birds that feed on fish have the habit of following the coast of Safi during major seasonal changes.
Thus, every winter, they can leave the countries of northern Europe for milder climates, in particular near the Moroccan Atlantic coast.
For now, no official source has revealed the cause of the death of these many migratory birds. Only civil society actors favor the thesis of intoxication.
The high level of pollution in the city and the dumping of a large number of waste at sea also seem to be the cause of this mass bird death.
