Mysterious death of a homeless person in Casablanca

The judicial police of Sidi Bernoussi in Casablanca are investigating the mysterious death of a homeless person, whose lifeless body was found on Sunday in a small space near a large company he was squatting with his wife.

"This couple, known in these places for several months, had made the neighbors believe that their shack, built in an anarchic manner, would have been destroyed, without them benefiting from an alternative. According to several sources, the couple would have been driven out of this shack by a family living in the neighborhood, because of their behavior, including excessive alcohol consumption," reports Assabah.

The homeless man, about forty years old, and his wife "wandered around the city during the day, before joining, in the evening, this space located near the premises of a large company in Sidi Bernoussi, to spend their night there," explains the daily, adding that "the wife presented herself around one o’clock to the judicial police services of Sidi Bernoussi, to inform them that her husband had died at dawn."

Sources told the daily that "the wife told the investigators that they were both drunk the previous evening, and had fallen asleep, drunk," but that when she woke up "at dawn, she found that her husband was lifeless and had head injuries." The victim’s wife also admits to having hesitated before deciding to alert the Sidi Bernoussi judicial police.

The investigation, opened under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, is ongoing. At this stage, the wife is the main suspect in this murder. As for the victim’s body, it has been transferred to the morgue for the purposes of the autopsy in order to determine the cause of death.
