Morocco’s Blueberry Exports to US Soar, Breaking Four-Year Record in Three Months

According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Morocco exported 525 tons worth nearly 5 million dollars during the first three months of the current 2024-2025 season. This quantity exceeds the total exports from Morocco to the United States during the previous four seasons combined, according to EastFruit.

According to the platform, the 2025 season saw an early start to exports, with shipments of blueberries from Morocco to the American market beginning in January instead of March, due to strong demand in the United States. The demand for blueberries in America continues to increase. In the United States, blueberries are highly sought after as they are considered a healthy and versatile product for snacks and desserts.

Morocco began commercial production of blueberries in 2004. Today, it is the third largest global exporter after Peru and Chile. The kingdom surpasses the United States, which was a pioneer in this field. The area dedicated to blueberry cultivation increased by 1,500 hectares in 2024 alone. Moroccan blueberries are distinguished by their high quality, allowing them to achieve prices higher than those from other countries, with a difference ranging from 2 to 3 dollars per kilogram.
