Muslim Fans Criticize Mohamed Salah for Christmas Celebration Post

As since 2019, the Liverpool Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah is again criticized by some Muslim internet users for celebrating Christmas, a Christian holiday.
Mohamed Salah, an Egyptian player of Muslim faith, sacrificed the traditional Christmas celebration on December 25th. On his Instagram account, he posted the usual "Merry Christmas" photo with his wife, Magi, and their two daughters. This provoked the annoyance of some Muslims. They blame the Egyptian striker for celebrating a Christian holiday while he is himself Muslim. For them, the Egyptian striker is "a shame for the Muslim world". They even promise him a "Christmas curse" that would result in a sudden ineffectiveness in front of the goal.
In the aftermath, Salah received the support of other Internet users. They have defended the Liverpool star. They believe that the player was not betraying his faith by simply celebrating the values of Christmas. "He appreciates his Christian fans," writes one Internet user. "Ronaldo and other top Christian footballers post Eid Mubarak every year, but the hypocrites remain silent. You’re becoming boring and don’t represent Islam," comments another.
For now, Salah has not responded to the criticism. He remains focused on his football career. The day after Christmas, he contributed to his club’s victory over Leicester (3-1) in the eighteenth round of the English championship.
