Mountain drama: Two deaths in Morocco, including a Portuguese

Mountain accidents have become recurrent in the Al Haouz region of Morocco. Last week, a foreign tourist and a Moroccan fell victim to such incidents.
A Portuguese tourist, passionate about mountain sports, was the victim of a fatal fall last Thursday in the Aklzim douar, near Mount Toubkal. On Saturday, a Moroccan also lost his life while attempting to climb this mountain.
The multiplication of mountain accidents in the Al Haouz region raises questions about their causes and the compliance with requirements by climbers who are generally assisted by a guide supposed to have a perfect knowledge of the trails and routes in this region.
The regional authorities are being questioned about their role in protecting tourists who are passionate about mountain sports and in the continuous training of mountain guides in order to avoid these accidents.
